A success story...

In March of 2006 there were many issues in play in the Texas U.S. Senatorial race. Iraq, Taxes, Education, Government Waste, Crime and Gasoline prides were reaching record levels. It would have been easy to make assumptions as to which issues were the most important. The campaign could simply rank order and decide what issues to emphasize. If we learned anything from this research experience, it is that reality is not always what we perceive.

After a three week Scott Radio research survey ($8,500 was the total cost of this research) the results were in. Our research team was surprised. The message Texas voters were sending in this survey did not match the media or the common assumptions. The campaign was confident in our methodology and framed the issues around the survey results. It was the correct decision.

On election evening in Houston, together we all watched CNN. The exit polls listed in rank order the five most important issues. They were ranked identical to Scott Radio's research results conducted month earlier. Our methods are...

We simultaneously achieve Qualitative and Quantitative Research. With the old methods, two separate research studies were required, with Scott Radio's technique, we achieve both levels of insight with one study, saving you thousands of dollars.

Qualitative market research means "quality." Conversely, and importantly, it does not mean "quantity." Qualitative research methods are designed to talk to a relatively few people in the target audience of interest. The purpose of qualitative research is to plumb the depths and range of the voters attitudes and beliefs, not to measure incidence, project, or forecast quantity. Popular qualitative market research methods include focus group studies, depth interviews triads (one interviewer, two respondents, and dyads (one interviewer, one respondent,) and observational techniques such as ethnography and, popular in marketing research, photo-ethnography. With the use of web cams, we obtain the same analysis as focus groups and observational techniques. Because it is one-on-one, the depth of our analysis is greater than traditional methods.

Quantitative marketing research designs gauge, describe, and forecast quantity. Using a range of sampling strategies, quantitative market research studies often project results of quantitative market surveys to the entire marketplace. Popular quantitative market survey methods include online surveys, personal quantitative interviews, and telephone surveys. At Scott Radio Political Research we use the telephone when required to affirm information or gain additional knowledge, the Internet as the main method of data collection and the web cam to obtain personal quantitative interviews. We are ahead of the curve. The last two election cycles have given horrific polling. Why? The traditional method of phone calling is obsolete. Today nearly ten percent (10%) of the voting population use a cell phone as their only telephone. These are unlisted. Voters with land lines employ the "do not call" lists, use caller ID, and new residents opt to not list the phone number. The database is seriously flawed. The times have changed, has your research company?

Our process is...

First is the vetting form. We purchase banners, email lists, chat room banners and various other tools in the first step of reaching your demographic. According to the April 28, 2006 Sitepro News, 73%% of American Adults now access the Internet. With each voting cycle this will grow. Every child in America is introduced to computers in elementary school.We gather between 1000 and 1200 reply's from interested persons. From this group we interview 100 individuals who correlate exactly to your voting demographic. All participants are paid via check or PayPal. During this period of two weeks, together Scott Radio and your staff design the questions and format the survey.

Second is the completion of the survey. Allow two weeks. The average person will need 20-30 minutes to complete. Our research is much deeper than the traditional telephone phone room surveys.

The third step is reviewing the raw data. We pay the person completing the survey additional funds to release their photograph. About 40% will opt to provide a picture. You see their demographics and the raw answers to the questions, plus you are provided the statistical compilation of the data in Microsoft Excel format. We telephone participants who failed to complete all answers or provided answers that were unclear.

The final step is the telephone conversation between Scott Radio and your staff. Our review and analysis of the results. We are not in the business of proving assumptions; we are in the business of understanding reality because you have too much time, money and energy invested. We do not release the contact information of the participants. Privacy agreement with each participant prohibits this.

This research is very sensitive. We email one copy to your key person. We burn a copy to disc and store in our safe. We destroy all copies within our computer network, on our servers and all paper information. This survey size is statistically accurate.
